The Palace of Eternal Spring (Chang Chun Gong) is alledgedly the Palace where the ailing and old Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, spoke out his official nomination for the next Crown Prince. Kangxi was 69 years of Age at the Time. It was the year 1722 AD.
The fourteenth son, Yin Ri, was nominated rather than earlier appointed Prince Yin Reng, the second son.

The whole succession of Kang Xi fell apart in infighting among brothers and in the end a completely different son, the Fourth Son was finally installed, but the Chang Chun Palace is the place where a new chapter in the Battle for the Succession to the Throne was started.
