Beijing, DongCheng District Full Map (Year 2004)

This map shows the Complete Area of the Beijing DongCheng District from its North-Eastern most Corner near YongHegong Lama Temple, to East Chang An Avenue in the South, to Nanhai, ZhongHai and Beihai at its western flank back to the Drum- and Bell-Towers in The North-West Corner. TiananMen Square, part of the DongCheng District is included, as well as Oriental Plaza Malls, Wanfujing Shopping Street and a number of other main monuments, hotels and official bureaus and agencies. In the extreme South-East Corner of DongCheng District Beijing Main Train Station is on this Map, as well as a number of China Post / EMS Offices. The DongCheng District has recently seen some major architectural changes with the addition of multiple modern

buildings at various sites, and the inclusion of a new Interior

Ministery Headquarters at East Chang An Avenue directly

East of TiananMen Square. However, the DongCheng

District is mostly planned to be preserved

in its current imperial splendor.

Find the Former Legations Quarter , the historic Colonial Embassy Section of the Old Imperial City within easy walking distance from TiananMen Square. In fact, the Legations Quarter of today is border by the Largest Square in the World, so one can start a Hiking Tour of the Legations just by walking East from TiananMen Square and Chairman Mao's Mausoleum. From there, it is Eastward along West Legation Street (Xi JiaoMin Alley) to browse around, then connect to some other Tourist Hotspot or Place of Interest.
