History of Zhejiang Province :
This page was last updated on: May 13, 2017
Situated in the coastal area of East Central China, Zhejiang Province borders on a variety of other Chinese Provinces. Clockwise around these are Anhui Province in the North-West, Jiangsu Province in the North, Shanghai City Province in the North-West, Fujian Province in the South and Jiangxi Province in the South-West.

The province is largely mountainous and has a general slope from southwest to north-east. Only less than 30 percent of the total area is level land. It has a rocky and indented coast, forming numerous natural harbours.

Zhejiang possesses famous mountains and rivers, so the tourist industry is becoming increasingly developed. Within its boundaries, Mt.Putuo, Mt.Tiantai, Nanxi River, Fuchun River-Xin'an River and Xihu Lake (West Lake) at Hangzhou are all national major famous scenic areas
