Faxing Temple
The modestly sized traditional Quadrangle house or Sihueyuan were new Culture Movement writer, literary critic and most importantly founding member of the Communist Party as well as its longtime Minister of Culture after 1949, Mao Dun was allowed to have his residence in Beijing in the fall of his life. After having spnet the years of the Cultural Revolution in relatively safe obscurity he was rehabilitated and set to work on his memoirs in this home.
Faxing Temple is another ancient local Temple which originally was hidden within a hutong area. This ancient Temple was famous for its frescoes. However, when during the pre-Olympic reconstruction much of the hutong of the eastern Dongcheng Districts was destroyed the protected Faxing Temple relic was moved to stand at the north of Jinboa Street where it remains as a one room structure.
